Uploading footage to Google Drive from a phone
Step 1: Install the Google Drive app
Open the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android), search for Google Drive, tap Install, then open the app.
Step 2: Sign in with your Google account
If you're already signed in, this step is skipped. If you don't have an account, a friend or family member can help you create one.
Step 3: Create a new folder
- Open the app
- Tap the "+" button at the bottom right
- Choose "Folder"
- Enter a name (for example: Footage_YourName)
- Tap "Create"
Step 4: Upload photos or videos
- Open the folder you just created
- Tap "+" again
- Choose "Upload", then "Photos" or "Videos"
- Select the files
- Wait for the upload to finish (large files take longer)
File order (optional but helpful)
If you have a preferred order for the video, number the files after uploading (1, 2, 3, 4…). It helps us follow your idea exactly.
If numbering on a phone is awkward, you can instead send:
- A short text description (for example: "leaving home → the train → arriving at the zoo")
- A one-line outline (for example: "the video starts when the dog arrives and ends when it's adopted")
Numbering is best, but if it isn't possible, we can help sort the order.
Step 5: Share the folder
- Go back to the folder list
- Tap the three dots next to the folder
- Choose "Share" or "Manage access"
- Set it to "Anyone with the link" can view
- Tap "Copy link"
- Send us the link, and you're done
Tips
- Use Wi-Fi: it's faster and doesn't use your mobile data
- For very large files, upload a few at a time
