Audio Repair: Clipping, Noise, Wind and Recording Rescue

A clipped recording, loud background noise, an outdoor recording that's all wind, or an audio file that won't open at all: none of these automatically means the file is lost. Chipscat Studio offers professional audio repair. Send us the file, we assess it first and quote, and you decide whether to go ahead.

Audio problems we work on

  • Clipping repair: crackle and distortion from wrong recorder settings or overloaded levels
  • Noise reduction: room noise, electrical hum, buzzing, air-conditioning and similar background noise
  • Wind noise removal: wind cutting across an unprotected microphone outdoors
  • Voice enhancement: clearer speech in interviews, podcasts and course recordings
  • Files that won't open: recovery attempts on damaged, unplayable or oddly formatted recordings

Interviews, meeting recordings, podcasts, course audio tracks or precious family recordings are all welcome for assessment.

How the audio repair service works

  1. Upload the file to Google Drive. Create a folder, upload the damaged or noisy file, right-click the folder, turn on link sharing and send us the link.
  2. Free assessment. We assess whether the file can be repaired. If it can't, we tell you honestly and charge nothing.
  3. Report and quote. If it can be repaired, we send a short repair report and a quote. Work starts only after you confirm.

What to expect

The result depends on how badly the original file is damaged. Light noise and wind can usually be improved noticeably; heavy clipping or corrupted files may only be partly recovered. That's why we insist on assessing first and quoting second, so you decide with the real picture in front of you.

Frequently asked questions

Is the assessment free?

Yes. The assessment costs nothing. We charge only after confirming the file can be repaired and you've approved the quote.

Which audio formats can you handle?

Common formats such as MP3, WAV, AAC and M4A. For others, send the file and we'll check.

How long does a repair take?

It depends on the file length and the damage. We give an estimated number of working days with the assessment.

Can you repair the sound in a video?

Yes. Clipping, noise and wind in a video's audio track are part of the service. See video and audio repair.
