Many clients think about AI video revisions the way they think about editing, for example "just have the person in this shot lower their hand". That can't be done in editing, and it can't be done in AI video either, for different reasons. This page sorts AI video revisions into three categories.
Category one: post-production, changed directly
- Subtitles and title text: content, font, position.
- The order of shots and the length of each segment (within the length of the generated clip).
- Music, sound effects, narration.
- The overall colour style and transitions.
- Where the logo and composited real product photos sit.
These work like ordinary editing and fall within minor revisions.
Category two: picture content, regenerated
Anything inside the picture (a person's action, what the scene looks like, where an object is, the weather, the time of day) isn't "changed"; it's "generated again". Regeneration produces a new picture that matches the new description, but everything else (faces, composition, light) changes with it. It's never "the original picture with one thing different".
Category three: not possible or not advisable
- Keeping everything in the original picture and changing one detail.
- Making a specific real person, or a specific brand's product, appear in the picture. Products should be real photos composited in; see can AI videos show real products and logos.
- Generating correct text directly in the picture.
- Stretching a 5-second shot to 20 seconds of continuous action.
How to request changes efficiently
- Say the result you want, not the method. "This section should feel busier" gives us more ways to get there than "add a few more people".
- Separate post-production issues from picture issues. A subtitle typo is post; a wrong scene is picture.
- Timestamp each note and send everything at once; see how to give feedback on a video edit.
- For segments that need regenerating, accept that it will be a new picture, and tell us which conditions are non-negotiable (indoors, daytime, two people).
Scope and cost of revisions
Post-production changes fall within the one round of minor revisions. The number and scope of regenerated shots is set out in the quote; the more carefully the storyboard is confirmed, the less needs regenerating later. That's why we always show a storyboard before generating.
