How to Make a Looping Video for a Trade Show Booth That Works Without Sound

A booth screen differs from every other video in three ways: the audience is walking past, the hall is loud, and the video repeats all day. Those conditions decide how it should be cut.

Assume nobody can hear it

Hall noise almost always drowns the speakers. The video has to be understood on mute: every key point in large text, and pictures that explain the product on their own. Music is fine, but don't put information in a voice-over.

Length and pacing

Passers-by watch for a few seconds to fifteen. Keep the whole video to 30 to 90 seconds, with a complete point every 10 to 15 seconds, so anyone who starts watching at any moment gets a message quickly. No long build-up at the start.

A seamless loop

The end should flow back into the start, with no obvious "end" and "restart". Give the last frame and the first frame the same background, or a cross-fade between them. Most TVs and players have a loop function; confirm it before the show.

How big the text should be

Viewers are usually two to three metres from the screen. At 1080p, key text should be at least 8% of the frame height, one line at a time, never a paragraph. Halls are bright, so dark background with white text or the reverse is safest; consider brand colours against the hall lighting.

Screen ratio and file format

  • Ask the organiser or the rental company for the screen orientation and resolution: standard TVs are 16:9, portrait digital signage is 9:16.
  • For playback from a USB stick plugged into the TV, MP4 (H.264) is the most compatible. Different TV brands support different formats; test on the same device before the show.
  • Keep a backup file on a second USB stick or a laptop.

QR codes and contact details

Hold any frame with a QR code for at least 8 to 10 seconds so people have time to get their phone out. Make the code large, with strong contrast, and scan it from the actual screen once to confirm it works.

What to prepare

Product photos or clips, logo, brand colours, the key points as one sentence each, and the QR code or URL. If you have no footage, AI-generated scene shots can be considered; the product itself should be real photos. See can AI videos show real products and logos.

Frequently asked questions

Can we just play our existing corporate video?

You can, but corporate videos usually rely on narration, and the information disappears on mute. We recommend a re-cut booth version with large text.

The show is in a few days. Is there time?

Fill in the form with your material as early as you can and we'll tell you whether it's feasible and when. See can video editing be rushed.

Should the video leave gaps for staff to talk?

No need. The video is support; staff can simply pause it while they present.
