How to prepare a memorial video: a gentle guide for families
In a funeral service, the memorial video (the life story video) is often the part that touches people most. It lets everyone present walk through a whole life again. For a family in mourning, though, gathering photos, choosing music and arranging production in a short time is a real burden. This page gathers the things that matter, in the hope of saving you some effort during a hard week.
What a memorial video usually contains
The common structure follows time: childhood and school, family and work, everyday life with family and friends, and finally a message to everyone or a quiet ending. It can also be arranged by theme: the things they loved, the things they used to say, photos with each member of the family. There's no right answer. What matters is that it feels like them: the pacing and the music should be true to who they were.
What the family needs to prepare
Photos. Digital photos as they are; printed photos photographed with a phone or scanned. They don't need to be sorted perfectly. Selection and ordering can be left to us.
Video clips. Everyday clips on a phone, family gatherings: even with ordinary picture quality and noisy sound, they can be assessed. Audio repair is one of the things we do.
Music and words. Songs they loved, words you want in the video. We'll explain the licensing points for public playback when we talk.
Time is short. Can it be done?
Funeral timelines are usually tight, and we understand that. The honest approach: tell us the date of the service and what material you have, and we accept the job only if we're confident we can complete it properly. We won't take it on at the risk of the quality or your peace of mind. The earlier the material arrives, the more care we can put in.
Their voice can be in the video too
Answering-machine messages, voice messages from a messaging app, recordings of them speaking or singing: these sounds are especially precious to a family. Even with poor quality or noise, send them for assessment and we'll say what can be repaired before you decide. For many families, hearing their voice is the part of the service remembered most.

We have very few photos. Is a video still possible?
We can assess it. With few photos, text cards, their own written words, and the design of music and pacing can fill the space. We discuss the approach after seeing the material and confirm what you're comfortable with.
Many relatives have opinions. How do we manage that?
Choose one main contact person to work with us and gather the family's views. We also set clear confirmation points to reduce the back-and-forth.
